Welcome to Shift Thrift!

I had the idea for this business model from experiencing the success of Mountain Equipment Recyclers non-profit partner model and observing large thrift organizations in our community. Also through MER, I’ve met many local non-profit organizations and have observed the need filled in the community by these groups. They offer wonderful community services but need continuous financial support.

Shift will be a conduit of revenue for these organizations through recycling of household goods. It will be a great opportunity for community members to support their favorite causes. Industry research estimates only 10% of goods accepted at thrift stores are actually donated. This is a shocking number! The potential is great and Shift will position itself to offer the highest potential for these causes.

Shift is not just a thrift store. We have big plans. Our mission statement is “…a social enterprise existing to enhance the Colorado Springs community by creating jobs, preserving the environment, promoting community involvement, and raising funds for charitable causes through the recycling of household goods”.  We expect Shift to be successful for various reasons but the most important ingredient will be the amazing people of Colorado Springs.

Currently, we are seeking a suitable building near downtown Colorado Springs with plans of opening this summer. Please follow us through our website and social media. If you’re interested in participating, contact me at mike@shiftthriftstore.com.

Shift the way you shop. Shift the way you give. Make the shift.

Thanks for your interest.
